OSAHi PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Nature of the Program. "The Balik-Paaralan Para sa Out-of -school
Adult (BP-OSA)" is a community industry-based program which provides
hands on learning on entrepreneurship or on-the-job training at least
once a week to out-of-school adult aged 20 to 45 years old. It makes
use of a competency-based curriculum that cover tasks from first to fourth year high school. It is intended to equip the learners with
entrepreneurial skills through the subject Entrepreneurship which provides
training in small-scale industries. Their employable and trainable
skills will be developed through the other four subject are-Science and
Technology, English, Mathematics, and Values Education.
Role of the Teacher. The teacher takes on the role of a facilitator of learning. He/she builds on where the learners are as autonomous
adult learners. Taking note of the tasks that have been satisfactorily
performed by the learners is crucial in determining the next tasks and
the andragogically-sound approaches for these.
Mechanic of Certification. Assignment by year level shall be based on
the results of the Philippine Educational Placement Test (PEPT) to be
administered by the National Education Testing and Research Center (NETRC). At the end of the school year, or any time during the school
year the learner may be given an advance placement test when the requirements of the subject have been satisfactorily completed. If at
least 60% of the requirements have been met, a certification may be issued to the learner as having advanced to a higher level or having
completed the subject.
Involvement of other Agencies. The implementation of the
program will necessarily entail networking with government agencies like the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of
Trade and Industry (DTI), Land Bank, Department of Interior and Local
Government (DILG).
